On the far side of Granada, under the towering volcano Mombacho, sits the large barrio Pantanal, a place that has become rather familiar to the El Puente community. Weekly outreaches of Discipleship class, sports ministry, and Bible Club for Kids share the Word and relationship with Pantanal families. With plans to open the Granada Christian Education Center in coming years, outreaches are building out a community of believers who will one day be able to partake in a quality, God-centered education.
Desiring to build community health, both spiritually and physically, Second Saturday serves the CHE program in bringing community together in a health-conscious manner. Projects are held the second Saturday of each month with transportation available for members of the El Puente community to participate in the event. Projects range from trash clean up, planting trees, playing sports, and various opportunities to serve the community together.
Pitch, Hit, & Run
Beginning in 2013, Pitch, Hit, Run provides a baseball skills training competition to nearly 60 individuals of 8+ years, coaching and training participants in each skill category. Training periods generally range 6 weeks, culminating in the final competition. Coaching is provided by volunteers from the El Puente community, many of whom have graduated or are participating in the Solo Por Hoy program.
